St. Petersburg’s governor took a ride on a retro-bus alongside bloggers.

This became an untypical culmination of the blog marathon, dedicated to public transportation. More than 200 people had participated.

For 7 months they had been posting their stories related to public transport on websites. It turned out that this subject was interesting to bloggers from Samara, Ufa and other cities.

Georgiy Poltavchenko, the Governor of St. Petersburg: “Public transport is not only necessary – it is the only alternative to developing car industry and traffic jams. Today we’re able to allocate funds which had been unavailable to us in hard years. Next year we’re spending 21 billion rubles to develop the subway. We’re rebuilding tramway lines, buying new carts, converting buses to gas fuel”.

Bloggers received prizes from city authorities and from the “Saint Petersburg” channel.

Sergey Boyarskiy, CEO of “Saint Petersburg” TV Channel: “Aside from awarding the person we have selected, I would also like to thank Nikolay Kamenev, who initiated this idea and who’s been a friend to our station. I hope this cooperation will continue”.

There hadn’t been practically any critical remarks about public transport, but there were some interesting proposals. According to organizers, this blog marathon won’t be the last – similar theme competitions will be held in the nearest future.
